Fuel the Fire – Why Passion Isn’t Optional

Passion – Find it. Chase it. Live it.

What would you do if no one was watching?

Would you still go after that dream? Still start that business? Write that book? Take that trip?

We spend so much of our lives chasing someone else’s idea of success—titles, money, trophies, likes, applause. But true fulfillment? That comes when we chase our passion.

Not for the recognition.
Not for the resume.
But because we can’t imagine not doing it.

The LITSG Principle of Passion

One of the foundational principles of The Life Is Too Short Guy is Passion—the kind that keeps you up at night in the best way. The kind that energizes you, fuels you, and connects you to something bigger.

It’s not about being busy. It’s about being alive.

Psychologists call it intrinsic motivation—doing something for the sheer love of it. And it turns out, that’s where greatness lives.

📊 A Yale study found that people who see their work as a calling (not just a job) report higher satisfaction, better performance, and stronger well-being.

🏆 92% of top athletes credit “passion” as their #1 driver—not fame or fortune.

💼 Deloitte found that passionate employees are 125% more productive than their peers.

But passion doesn’t always come with a roadmap. Sometimes, it starts as a whisper. A hobby. A side hustle. A crazy idea no one else understands.

For me, it was a challenge that turned into a curiosity that exploded into a calling.

Writing The Life Is Too Short Guy wasn’t about checking a box. It was about sharing a belief I couldn’t keep to myself. That positivity, gratefulness, and passionate living aren’t just nice ideas; they’re life changing. And what started as a challenge became a passion and then an obsession.

Now, I have the privilege of chasing my passion by traveling the country speaking to teams, companies, and leaders—helping them reconnect with what matters most. My Happiness Tour has taken me to boardrooms, ballrooms, and even classrooms… all in pursuit of making the world happier one smile at a time.

The Ripple Effect of My Passion

And the stories I’ve heard along the way?

A man booked a flight to visit his mom for the first time in years.
A woman started writing the screenplay she had dreamed about since college.
A guy joined a church choir he had been afraid to join for years.
A daughter gave my book to her grieving mom to help her heal.
And one of my favorites—a man told me, “Tonight? I’m bowling with my buddies for the first time in years. Because of you. Thanks.”

These moments aren’t coincidences. They’re reminders that when you follow what lights you up, you light up the world around you.

Your Turn

So I ask you:

What fuels you?
What fills you with energy and joy?
What would you do even if nobody clapped?
Go do that.

Not someday—today.

Don’t waste another minute chasing someone else’s dream or living for someone else’s approval.

The world doesn’t need more people on autopilot.
It needs more people fully alive.
It needs YOU on fire with passion.

This month, light your spark.
Reignite an old flame.
Start something that matters.
Say yes to what sets your soul on fire.

Because Life Is Too Short to live half-hearted.
And passion? It isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.

Now go chase it.
Fuel the fire.

The Happiness Tour Rolls On!

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to deliver the keynote at the Eduro Summit in Las Vegas, where over 200 executives and company leaders gathered for an inspiring event. It was another powerful reminder of why I’m so passionate about spreading happiness, positivity, and the simple belief that every day can be your best day ever.

It was truly humbling to see dozens of people line up afterward to share their personal stories, thank me, and tell me how much the message resonated with them. These moments fuel my mission and reinforce the incredible impact that choosing positivity can have on individuals, teams, and entire organizations.

If you’re thinking about how to energize your next event, inspire your team, or create a culture of happiness and gratitude, I’d love to be a part of it. Reach out and let’s make it happen. Together we can keep the movement going — one smile, one story, and one organization at a time!

With passion,

Scott
